Routlffe bows out of Cincinnati Masters

Tuesday, 16 August 2022

It’s been a disappointing for New Zealand’s top ranked women’s doubles player Erin Routliffe at the WTA 1000 tournament in Cincinnati. The world number 30 and her Polish partner Alicja Rosolska have been beaten in a tight first round encounter by Germany’s Laura Siegemund and Czech Marie Bouzkova.

The match could have gone either way with the Czech/German combination winning 6-3, 6-7 (7), 10-7 in an hour and 47 minutes. It’s the second straight first round loss for Routliffe and Rosolska on the North American hard-court swing.

Michael Venus and Tim Puetz meanwhile get another day off before their first-round match at the ATP Masters 1000 in Cincinnati.
