Juice Products New Zealand Open To Bring Pro Tennis Back To Timaru in 2027
Professional tennis will return to Timaru in February 2027, with the Juice Products New Zealand Open set to bring another week of world-class action to the Trust Aoraki Tennis Centre.
Running from 14-21 February next year, the tournament will feature both a World Tennis Men’s M25 and Women’s W35 event, with emerging international players competing for valuable ATP and WTA ranking points and over $100,000 in prize money.
The 2027 tournament will mark the third instalment of the event, following the success of the previous two editions. The event will also enter a new chapter in 2027, with Timaru-based Juice Products New Zealand (JP-NZ) coming on board as the tournament’s naming rights sponsor.
The partnership builds on JP-NZ’s support of professional tennis in New Zealand in 2026, as it was a major sponsor of New Zealand’s Davis Cup tie against Japan in Auckland. JP-NZ is based in Washdyke and manufactures juice concentrate from locally grown carrots and other fruit and vegetables.
Tennis South Canterbury Manager Peter Burt says the tournament has quickly established itself as an important event for the region.
“Tennis in South Canterbury has experienced a significant revitalisation off the back of the two World Tennis Tour events held here in Timaru in 2025 and 2026. The excitement the event has brought has seen busier courts at Trust Aoraki Tennis Centre and throughout the region, so we are excited to bring it back.”
“Juice Products New Zealand coming onboard as the naming rights sponsor will mark a new and exciting chapter, and we’re grateful for their support to build on what is already a well-loved event.”
“The experience that we provide here at the Trust Aoraki Tennis Centre, bringing professional tennis to Timaru has been quoted as “the best in the world at this level” by the officials and players alike. Last year’s event saw beautiful weather, packed crowds, and great tennis, including some wonderful results for our New Zealand players. We’re looking for more of that in 2027.”
The tournament received prestigious international recognition, being named one of just 40 events worldwide to receive a World Tennis Tournament Recognition Award for its 2025 edition.
The recognition places the event among the highest-rated tournaments on the international tennis calendar, selected from more than 1,200 World Tennis events held globally in 2025.
The tournament provides New Zealand players with the opportunity to compete against international opposition on home soil, while giving the Timaru community the chance to experience professional tennis without having to travel further afield.
Chris Renfree of Juice Products New Zealand says the company is excited to continue its support of New Zealand tennis and bring the tournament to its own community.
“Proudly based in South Canterbury ourselves, we know how special this part of the world is, and how world-class its offerings can be. So we’re thrilled to be the naming rights sponsor of the Juice Products New Zealand Open in Timaru. We can’t wait to welcome next year’s contingent of tennis professionals, and continue our support of New Zealand tennis.”
The event is also generously supported by Timaru District Council and Venture Timaru.
While entry is free for most of the week, coveted finals days tickets will be on sale soon. Also corporate hospitality is available, for more information:
