Superb come from behind win for Routliffe and Rosolska in Doha

New Zealand doubles player Erin Routliffe and her Polish partner Alicja Rosolska are through to the quarter finals at the WTA 1000 tournament in Doha.

They have come back from a set and a break down to beat the 7th seeds, Australian Ellen Perez and American Desirae Krawczyk 1-6 7-6 (3) 10-6 in an hour and 35 minutes.

Routliffe and Rosolska will next play Serbia’s Aleksandra Krunic and Japan’s Shuko Aoyama in the quarter finals. The Kiwi is projected to climb to a career high of 32 in the WTA doubles rankings and will crack the top 30 in she wins through to the semis.

Meanwhile Michael Venus and his German partner Tim Puetz will get his campaign underway tonight at the ATP 500 tournament in Dubai.

The fourth seeds will take on lucky losers from qualifying, Germany’s Jan Lennard Struff and Israel’s Jonathan Erlich who replaced Croatians Marin Cilic and Ivan Dodig in the draw.
