Paige Hourigan bags title in Georgia

Monday, 05 May 2025

Paige Hourigan has triumphed in Lopota, Georgia, winning the doubles title with her partner Rutuja Bhosale from India.

In the final of the ITF W50 tournament, Hourigan and Bhosale defeated India’s Shrivalli Rashmikaa Bhamdipaty and Alexandra Shubladze from Russia 6-3 6-2.

In Hourigan and Bhosale’s first two matches this week, they needed to come through in the third-set tiebreak, but their wins in the semifinal and final, were straight-set victories.

It is Hourigan’s first title of the year, after winning four doubles tournaments in 2024 and partnering with Bhosale for two of them.

The Turakina-born Hourigan has won doubles titles with 11 different partners over her career including Coco Gauff, Erin Routliffe and Jodie Burrage.

Injuries have hampered the career of the 28-year-old, but her results in Lopota, where she will also play next week with Bhosale, have shown that she’s back heading in the right direction.
