NZ 14u boys team in Malaysia for World Junior Tennis - Asia Oceania qualifying event

The New Zealand 14u Boys Team have arrived today in Sarawak, Malaysia to compete in the World Junior Tennis Asia/Oceania Qualifying event.

The boy's team consists of Zachariah Wu (Auckland), Liam Youn (Northern) and Riley Breen (Canterbury) and non-travelling reserve Luca Bland (Auckland). David Knight is the Captain alongside Tracey King, Team Manager. 

Wu is s currently ranked number 1 in NZ for the 14u age group and is the current 14u National Indoor Champion.

Road to the Classic title winner Youn reached the doubles semi-finals of the National 14u Championship with fellow team member Breen.

Breen reached the semifinals of the singles and doubles of the National 14u Championships in December and is part of the TNZ Regional Programme in Christchurch.

The team have been in Auckland earlier this week for a three-day training camp and are now in Kuching to acclimatize and train. An added bonus is they get to support their fellow NZ team who competing in the final rounds of the girl's event.

The girls team drew a tough group with Australia, Kazahkstan and Chinese Taipei and were defeated in the round robin stage. NZ notched up a 3-0 win against Sri Lanka in the playoffs and are now up against Singapore.

 The boys draw will be released on the 27 th March, local time.
