Terrific day for the Kiwis in Papamoa

Kiranpal Pannu is through to tomorrow’s men’s singles final at the ITF US $15,000 tournament in Papamoa. The 6th seeded Kiwi has beaten Australian Jeremy Beale 6-1,0-6 6-4 in an hour and 55 minutes. Pannu will take on Aussie qualifier Derek Pham for the title after he beat compatriot Blake Ellis 0-6,6-4 7-6 (5) in the other semi-final. Pannu will be chasing his first ITF title.

Jack Loutit has his first ITF doubles title. The 17-year-old has partnered with Japan’s Daisuke Sumizawa and have completed a 6-4 7-5 win over Kiwi wildcards George Stoupe and Reece Falck.

Erin Routliffe and Paige Hourigan have won the doubles title at the US $25,000 tournament in Papamoa. The second seeds have thrashed 4th seeds Ashmitha Easwarmurthi and Yuka Hosoki 6-1 6-0 in 49 minutes.

In women’s singles action, top seeded Canadian Katherine Sebov is through to the final after her opponent Slovakian Zuzana Zlochova retired trailing 5-2 in the first set of their semi. Sebov will face second seeded Czech Michaela Bayerlova who has beaten Aussie 8th seed Catherine Aulia 4-6,6-4,6-1.
