Impressive start from Routliffe, Dabrowski at US Open

Erin Routliffe and Gaby Dabrowski have had a convincing first round win at the US Open, defeating the Czech duo Miriam Skoch and Marketa Vondrousova 6-3 6-0.
It was an impressive performance from Routliffe and Dabrowski, who won this title in 2023, as they were able to get reacquainted with playing matches at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center and fine tune their rhythm.
Skoch had her serve broken in the second game of the match, with the No 3 seeds able to keep that lead for the remainder of the set.
By the second set, Routliffe and Dabrowski were in scintillating form, second guessing where each of them would be on the court and how to play every point.
They secured the win with Skoch putting a second serve return from Dabrowski into the net on match point.
This victory makes it seven victories from their last eight matches for Routliffe and Dabrowski as they’re arguably playing some of their best tennis of the year right now.
In the second round they will play against Quinn Gleason from the United States and Brazil’s Ingrid Martins.
Michael Venus won’t kick off his US Open campaign until at least Sunday, NZ time.
In the first round, he and Yuki Bhambri have been drawn against Marcos Giron and rising singles star Learner Tien.
