Hourigan wins another ITF title

Monday, 19 April 2021

New Zealand number one Paige Hourigan has won the doubles title with Australian Alex Osborne at the ITF US $15,000 tournament in Monastir in Tunisia. It's the Kiwi's 9th ITF doubles title.

The top seeds have beaten the second seeded Belgian pair Magali Kempen and Chelsea Vanhoutte. Their opponents retired with Hourigan and Osbourne leading 4-1 in the first set.

The match was delayed a day due to inclement weather after Hourigan and Osbourne had played an epic semi-final, winning 12-10 in a match tie break to get through to the final.

24 year old Hourigan will stay in Monastir for this week’s ITF tournament.

Meanwhile on the ATP Tour Marcus Daniell and his Austrian partner Philipp Oswald have failed to qualify for this week’s ATP 500 tournament in Barcelona. They lost their second round qualifying match on Monday morning NZT 1-6 7-6 (0) 10-7 to the French pair of Adrian Mannarino and Benoit Paire.
