Finn Reynolds claims Challenger title in Colombia

Sunday, 11 August 2024

Finn Reynolds has won the second ATP Challenger doubles title of his career, with the 24-year-old again tasting victory with Chile’s Matias Soto.

In the final of the tournament in Bogota, Colombia on Saturday (Sunday NZ time), Reynolds and Soto defeated Joao Lucas Reis de Silva from Brazil and Zimbabwe’s Benjamin Lock 6-3 6-4.

Reynolds’ other Challenger doubles title also came when partnering Soto, winning the tournament in Ibague, Colombia in June.

The Hastings-born Reynolds has been named in the Davis Cup team for the Davis Cup tie against Luxembourg, which takes place in Palmerston North September 14-15 and he’ll head into that playing some of the best tennis of his career.

This title should see him move into the top 200 for the first time as he’s predicted to be at 197 in the world when the rankings are next updated.

Meanwhile, Lulu Sun has been drawn against Shelby Rogers from the States in the first round of qualifying at the Cincinnati Open.

Sun is the No 3 seed in qualifying and if she beats Rogers she will play against the winner of the match between Marina Stakusic and Lucia Bronzetti for a place in the main draw.
