Recognition of Current Competence (RCC)

The RCC process allows coaches with historical qualifications or qualifications gained overseas to be assessed (both on-court and off-court) with the aim of attaining a current Tennis New Zealand coaching qualification.

What is Recognition of Current Competence (RCC)?

Coaches gain skills and knowledge through a range of experiences. Previous learning can significantly contribute towards a person’s current level of competence.

Coaching qualifications offered by Tennis Australia are made up of units of competency. Each unit consists of elements of competency that describe the essential outcomes participants must achieve.

A Recognition of Current Competence (RCC) is a process that assesses  individual’s formal qualifications to determine the extent to which that individual has achieved the required learning outcomes, competencies or standards associated with the World tennis Academy (WTA) coaching competency framework.

Tennis NZ role will be to collate evidence submitted by an applicant and assess these against requirements of one or more units of competency set out by World Tennis Academy (WTA)

Who can apply?

You can apply for a Recognition of Current Competence if you feel your learning and experiences meet the requirements for one or more of the units of competency for either the Development Coaching or Club Professional Coaching qualifications delivered by Tennis New Zealand.

A decisive factor in this process is the provision of evidence by the candidate. This evidence must be current and officially dated by the Federation with the individuals name clearly visible. This will enable Tennis New Zealand to assess your application.

Benefits of Recognition Current Competency

Benefits include:

  • Speeds up the process of becoming registered on Tennis NZ's coaching register with a current and internationally recognised qualification
  • Avoids individuals having to unnecessarily duplicate prior learning experiences
  • Assesses the individuals current competence comparative to the stated standards of competence required
